Prune spring-flowering shrubs after blooms fade.

Keep grass mowed to 2.5 inches tall.

Replace pansies and other spring annuals with summer annuals and perennials.

To attract butterflies:
            Sprinkle flowers with a mixture of sugar and water
            Arrange flat stones for resting
            Provide shallow water for drinking
            Choose bright colors for flowers especially purple, red
​            and yellow.
            Plant lavender, asters and butterfly bushes.
